Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect for my first visit?
Please bring any existing health and vaccine records for your pets. It may be helpful to compile a list of questions or concerns you have about your pet’s health to discuss with your veterinarian. We offer a New Client form you can submit online or print out and bring with you to your first appointment for your convenience. Having the form filled out beforehand is great because it shortens wait time in the lobby and gets you into your exam that much faster!
What vaccines do you recommended?
All pets need vaccinations to protect them against dangerous viral and bacterial diseases, such as rabies, feline leukemia virus (FeLV), or canine parvovirus.
Recommended vaccines for dogs include:
- Rabies
- Da2pp
- Bordetella
- Canine Influenza
Recommended vaccines for cats include:
- FVRCP
- FeLV
- Rabies
Protection should begin early when they’re puppies and kittens and should be supplemented with boosters when they become adults. Your veterinarian will determine if your pet is healthy enough for vaccinations and make recommendations for each pet. All pets seen at Westside Pet Hospital must have a current rabies vaccine. Proof of a current rabies vaccine must be brought to your pet’s first visit. If no proof is provided and you would like your pet to be seen, a rabies vaccine must be administered.
What are your payment options?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and CareCredit. You may also pay by cash or check. We are a privately owned business, and animal hospitals do not receive government funds to help clients who cannot afford care. Because of this, we, unfortunately, cannot extend credit in the form of payment plans to any of our clients. All payment is due upon checkout. If there may be any financial difficulty that will present a challenge to you, we will do everything we can to help you find resources to obtain financial assistance.
Advances in veterinary medicine over the past 20 years have greatly increased the quality of medicine in the veterinary field. With that, veterinary practices and pet owners can reasonably expect some increase in treatment and preventative care costs. If you are concerned about the affordability of pet health care, our staff is always happy to help you form a plan of action. We are here for you to discuss your options and create financial plans that work within your circumstances.
Investing in pet insurance will help you cover routine costs from vaccines, heartworm, fecal testing, spaying or neutering procedures, and even dental work for a low monthly cost. Some pet insurance plans also offer protection against unexpected health costs. It is good to have an emergency plan to prepare for illness or injury that strikes when we least expect it. We can offer advice and informational resources to help you formulate a solid plan.
